Portland Community Information

Portland supports a vibrant, friendly, downtown Business and Cultural District-- an area growing with mixed use commercial-residential buildings and condos. Portland State University, the Park blocks, ballet, opera, symphony, performing arts, museums, shopping, restaurants and much more are right at your doorstep.

The Max line, Streetcar and bus mall provide easily accessible public transportation. But you might not need it, as the area is designed with city blocks that facilitate walking. You also won't have to look hard to find an enthusiastic bicyclist!

Portland boasts a city with thoughtful urban planning; a progressive, environmentally friendly culture; a spectacular parks and recreational system; a diverse community; and many interesting neighborhoods to choose from.

The forests, mountains, ocean, beaches, rivers, lakes, and waterfalls all provide scenic beauty and many choices for outdoor activities. The nearby farms, ranches and vineyards provide sustainable and organic food production, and offer Portlanders healthy choices from U-Pick farms, farmers' markets, great restaurants, and organic groceries. All of these things make Portland a great place to live, work, and raise a family.
